First snow of the year!

Riverton received it's first snowfall of the season and we were so lucky as to be there making some visits on our way to Green River. It wasn't so very much--just enough to make South Pass very slick and more exciting than I would have liked. At first I thought I was imagining the iciness and going overly slow but....after seeing three jack-knifed semis and a truck on it's side in the ditch, I decided that I would continue to plod and hopefully avoid the ditch myself. As we came down off the pass we looked in our rearview mirror and saw that they had upgraded the conditions to "chain law in effect". Sounded like a good idea.

But, by Sunday afternoon the sun had come out and though it hadn't warmed to the point that the snow was melted, it did clear the roads. We'll return to Laramie on Tuesday--hopefully on bare and dry roads.

Here's Jana with some of her relatives--the Terry & Sally Olsons, including Donovan and his younger brother Jonathan and his new fiancee.
